Question

My children are aged 12 and 10. They currently go to a childminder whilst I work but are constantly asking at what age they can stay home. At what age can I legally leave them at home?

Answer

It sounds as though your children are pushing to have a little bit more independence. It can be a good thing to encourage independence, but it is important to be aware of the legalities of leaving children alone at home.

There is a whole page about this subject on the NSPCC website which I hope you will find helpful.
